No! WhisperBuddy works completely offline. All transcription, translation, and processing happens locally on your Mac using advanced AI models. Your audio data never leaves your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.
WhisperBuddy supports all major audio and video formats including MP3, MP4, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, and many more. You can also capture audio directly from your microphone or any other audio source on your Mac.
WhisperBuddy supports transcription in over 100 languages and can translate between 21 languages completely offline. The AI models are optimized for accuracy across multiple languages and dialects.
You can export your transcriptions in multiple formats: SRT (subtitles), JSON (structured data), TXT (plain text), and VTT (video text tracks). This makes it easy to integrate with video editing software, subtitle tools, or any other workflow.
The Free version includes all core features but limits you to 10 export/copy actions. The PRO version ($29.99 one-time payment) removes all limitations, giving you unlimited exports and copies, plus 1 year of app updates. All other features like transcription, translation, and editing are identical.
WhisperBuddy requires macOS 14.6 or later and works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. For optimal performance, we recommend at least 8GB of RAM. The app will download AI models locally (approximately 1-3GB depending on language selection).
Select the audio source, choose Google Chrome Helper, you will be able to capture Chrome's audio.
